March Diorama

Message from Blair Campbell, Board President:  It is with great sadness that we pass along the news that O’Hanlon Center member and volunteer Suzanne Rogers passed away in her home on Wednesday, March 14.  Suzanne had just completed an incredible amount of work cleaning and culling materials in the Loft studios.  She is survived by her daughter and two sisters.  A memorial in her honor is being planned for Tuesday, March 27, 3 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 Bay View Avenue, Belvedere.  For more information, please call OHCA’s office.

Loft Clean-Up Day Big thanks to Elaine and Carl Nehm, Phyllis Pansegrau, Brooke Passano, Carolyn Planakis, Cayen Robertson, Gail Robertson, and Eileen Worthley for volunteering to tidy and sort the Loft’s kitchen and art supplies.

Loft Maintenance Members, please be aware of the following issues regarding the Loft:  You are welcome to use the toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and stove.  But please make sure that no food or drink remains are left in the appliances after you use them.  Please also make sure all appliances are turned off when you are through using them.  Additionally, if you use the fireplace, please make sure all embers are extinguished before leaving.  If you use the Studios, please make sure to tidy up the space after you leave (clear off table tops, put materials away, wash brushes, etc., and sweep the floor) and make sure you drop the $10 use fee into the Orange Box each time you use the space.  Lastly, please do not leave food remains out after you leave so we minimize attraction of critters.

Board Updates: Just a reminder for anyone who is interested in what happens at our monthly meetings of OHCA’s board of directors that you can review a detailed summary, in the form of the board meeting minutes, posted each month in the Loft.

April in the Loft Gallery: New Work from O’Hanlon Center’s Painters’ Forum

The Painters’ Forum meets weekly on Mondays at O’Hanlon Center to discuss their artistic process and to get feedback on their works in progress.  Items on display will reflect the outgrowth of these creative conversations.

July Artist Retreat OHCA will be offering a new program in July called an Artist Retreat. This is a weeklong (5-day) opportunity for artists to work independently but in the company of other dedicated artists in the Loft and outside areas.  This is not a workshop and there will be no instruction. This is an opportunity for serious, self-directed artists to work in a quiet atmosphere for a sustained period of time.  Working together but independently in the spirit of creativity is the goal.  The retreat is being planned for Monday, July 23 through Fri., July 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This retreat is open to members who agree to some simple rules.  There is to be no talking.   Silence with talking quietly only outside during the hours of 9 – 5 and no music except with earphones.  No visitors except before or after 9 -5.  More details on applying for this limited-space offering are to follow.

We Thank Our Donors! O’Hanlon recently received tax-deductible gifts from Patsy Chador, Candis Cousins, Jordan Hines, Gail Robertson and Peter Xiques.

Mention “7078” at Mill Valley Market’s register and 2% of your sales will be donated to OHCA!
