Nature • Imagination • Architecture

Lecture Series by ANTHONY LAWLOR
Thursdays, October 9, November 13, December 11.
6:30 p.m. $10, $8 O'Hanlon Center members.

This series of monthly lectures explores our intimate connection to nature, imagination, and architecture. It considers how these forces shape our daily lives and how everyday activities design the world around us. Each session includes a slide lecture and a group discussion intended to reveal the practicality and poetry of dwelling with the environment in inventive and artful ways.


Anthony Lawlor
has practiced architecture for more than 25 years. His two books, The Temple in the House and A Home for the Soul, explore the relationship between architecture, sacredness and human experience. Tony's recent documentary film, The Living Temple, presents a journey through world sacred places. He has received awards for excellence in design from the American Institute of Architects and Interior Design Magazine. Tony's work has been featured on Oprah, National Public Radio and numerous other national media.

 

Invitation to Beauty

Beauty opens the door to creativity, healing and wisdom. This workshop is an invitation to find our own ways and practices that will allow more beauty in our lives. We will explore the qualities of beauty and articulate the many ways beauty moves us, with simple writing and drawing exercises, silence and discussion.  

 J. Ruth Gendler is the author of Notes on the Need for Beauty, Changing Light and The Book of Qualities as well as a nationally exhibiting artist. Spirituality and Health included Notes on the Need for Beauty as one of the 50 best spiritual titles of 2007. Gendler has worked as an artist in the schools and led writing workshops for adults and children for twenty-five years.
