Beginning Bookbindng: The Kettle-Stitch and Multi-Signature Books w/ DEREK BACCHUS
May 8 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The multi-signature book is the book that we all know, whether it’s a paperback, or a hardcover. We will learn how to sew many signatures together (a folded set of gathered pages) with the kettle stitch, and then add a cover, with endsheets.
We will begin with bookbinding basics to familiarize yourself, and for your future independent work: tools, text and cover papers, paper grain, folding, deckled edges, needles, and threads. You will end up with your own sewn book (and instructions), and ways to explore making more blank journals, or even your own set of designed pages for limited editions of your own artistic work, or writings.
$45, $36 OHCA members. Materials fee $8
