Drawing, “both the necessary foundation of practice for all
and a natural intellectual inclination of the talented.”
– Cennino Cennini, 14th Century
These workshops are rooted in the classical atelier style of teaching, with a focus on beauty and art as a way of living. We will be establishing our “ground” by preparing surfaces for drawing and painting. I start with physical “exercises” to help participants integrate body and mind. This creative work, helps to develop focus and build muscles to remain calm in stressful or challenging situations. We will be working from life. Out in the “field”, creating and and working from still lifes, and eventually taking turns drawing each other.
Bring drawing board (to fit an 18″ x 24″ paper), paper and pencils, contes, charcoal, kneaded eraser, sharpener, bound sketch pad, if you are keeping one, etc…
Bring images of your work if you have any you would like to share and what your intentions are for the class.
$5.00 supply fee if you did not have your materials to draw
Snack and tea provided, (feel free to bring a snack or drink to share if you like)
