Day 1: Sunday August 25, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
(Day 2: Monday August 26, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm – separate registration)
This hands-on, one or two-day encaustic basics workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax or if you need a refresher in using warm wax as a painting medium.
Participants can sign up for either of both days!
The workshop will examine approaches to using paper, botanicals, and 3-D objects that can be embedded into the wax for an encaustic collage. We will address heating, fusing, and manipulating wax, as well as discuss colors, brushes, and where to find materials.
The encaustic wax and all other encaustic supplies will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own additional materials to incorporate into their artwork. Each student will leave with at least two completed pieces of encaustic art.
From Margot:
If there are some “beginners” on Monday then I will get them up to speed quickly. I will run through the basics, for the new people and as a refresher for the returning students.
Repeat participants can continue their work, and I will add a few new techniques as we go along. I will bring a few more items for people to use (pastels, carvings tools and such), especially for the second day.
$155 | $124 for OHCA members
plus $20 materials fee to instructor day of class.
